Citizen Meetings
Citizen meetings are aimed at municipalities, homeowners’ associations and similar organizations that want to help their citizens reduce and gain more knowledge about their energy consumption. Citizen meetings are also a good way to engage citizens in a municipally prioritized effort – for example, this can be done through a citizen meeting about the heat pump subsidy scheme, where citizens can get information about how to apply for funding to replace their heating source.
As a municipality, there is also the possibility to book a free citizen meeting through SparEnergi, the Danish Energy Agency’s impartial advisory service. We make both open and topic specific events, where the focus of a meeting can be general, as well as directed toward a particular type of energy advice.
Examples of topics for citizen meetings
Citizen meetings about the heat pump subsidy scheme and the energy renovation subsidy scheme serve as an introduction and a helping hand for citizens who wish to apply or are considering applying for these schemes. The heat pump subsidy scheme is intended for citizens who want to convert their current heating source to an air-to-water or liquid-to-water heat pump. However, it is a requirement that the citizen’s current heating source is either a gas boiler, oil boiler, biomass boiler, or electric heating.
The energy renovation subsidy scheme is intended for citizens who want to carry out renovations in their home with the purpose of saving energy. Such renovations include, for example, replacing old windows, adding insulation to the building envelope, and installing a heat recovery system. However, in order to receive the subsidy, the citizens must have a valid energy label on the home with a rating of E, F or G.
The citizen meetings about the heat pump subsidy scheme and the energy renovation subsidy scheme are therefore intended to provide information about these, giving citizens the best possible basis for applying for subsidies.
During the energy crisis, it became very clear that energy bills can have a significant impact on personal finances – especially if one already has limited means and/or an inefficient heating source. When we hold citizen meetings for energy vulnerable households, we advise citizens on simple but effective behavioral and low-cost ways to save energy at home. Our presentations focus on very small things, such as energy use when cooking and doing laundry, and can help citizens save up to 30 % on their energy bill.
Our open events are most often held in connection with fairs or other large gatherings. Here, one of our advisors can talk about the topic you would like. We also have extensive experience with pop-ups, where our advisors are present in citizens’ everyday environments. We make ourselves available in front of supermarkets, shopping centers, and marinas around the country – always ready to help citizens with energy-related questions.
If a citizen meeting is booked outside of the free offer supported by SparEnergi, we can also adapt a citizen meeting to your needs. For example, we have experience in holding citizen meetings about solar panels on industrial roofs and the establishment of shared heating solutions. Contact us to learn more about what we can offer.
