Shared Energy Solutions

Shared energy solutions

Shared energy solutions are for municipalities that want to help and guide citizens who live without access to district heating – or for citizens who want to join together in a shared energy solution.

Content of advice on shared energy solutions

When providing advice on shared energy solutions, our team will meet with representatives from interested homeowners’ associations or local areas.

At the initial meeting, the team will learn about the citizens’ expectations and wishes, as well as the current organizational and technical conditions of the area/association.

Together, the content of the advice and the energy report to be prepared are agreed upon.

For the advice, the advisor will need the following information from the citizens:

  • The number of households interested in a potential shared solution and to be included in the calculations
  • The types of heating systems the households use and their distribution
  • The annual electricity and heating consumption of the households
  • Outdoor/common areas, which areas are owned by the association, and which are owned by the municipality

First, residential areas are assessed through technical screenings of consumption and organizational needs. Based on the technical and organizational screening, as well as dialogue with the area, an energy report is prepared with selected draft proposals for solutions tailored to the specific situation of each area. The ongoing and subsequent follow-up aims to maintain engagement with the areas/associations and ensure that the planned measures and initiatives are carried out in accordance with the needs and possibilities of the associations.

Based on technical investigations and calculations, our advisory team prepares an energy report for the area/association that provides a nuanced overview of the solutions and other requests agreed upon with the representatives.

The content of the report will vary depending on the citizens’ wishes, but will also include:

  • A brief description of the area
  • Descriptions of the proposed solutions
  • The technical investigations and results
  • Estimates of investments costs, both overall and per household
  • Estimates of additional costs due to variations in house types
  • Advantages and disadvantages of the proposed solution
  • Tools and guidance related to joint procurement, subsidy opportunities, as well as the legal and organizational process
